To achieve this, I will continuously pursue opportunities for further education and actively engage in professional associations to stay updated on the latest proven practices. My ultimate goal is to become a certified clinical instructor and eventually a professor in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program through further clinical practice. I intend to acquire substantial expertise and knowledge that will allow me to guide and mentor the future generation of physical therapists by immersing myself in the profession and constantly improving my skills. • Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI)

The recent racial justice movement had a huge impact on my understanding of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. It pushed me to reexamine the basic disparities experienced by those who are excluded in society. As a healthcare practitioner, I realize the need of providing high-quality care to all patients, regardless of color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, country, socioeconomic situation, language, physical ability, age, or political stance. Attending multiple diversity, equity, and inclusion sessions has increased my understanding of unconscious prejudice and the need of respecting everyone. These workshops shaped my perspective, allowing me to effectively promote diversity and tackle biases.

  • Interprofessional Education Activities (IPE)

Having interprofessional experiences throughout my academic career has greatly influenced my outlook on healthcare and collaboration. These chances, whether through courses, seminars, or professional gatherings, have been critical in developing awareness and respect for different healthcare specialties. They have not only broadened my knowledge base, but also deepened my awareness for the variety of skills and expertise available in the healthcare industry. One important lesson I’ve learned from these experiences is the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in patient-centered treatment. Interacting with professionals from many disciplines has underlined the complementary nature of our positions and the importance of collaborating to meet patients’ diverse demands. I now understand that effective collaboration takes more than just communication; it also requires mutual respect, and active listening, in order to produce the best possible outcomes for patients.

  • Reflective statement

Reflecting on the journey of the past three years, I’m amazed by the immense growth and learning I’ve experienced as a professional. Overcoming challenges and navigating unexpected obstacles throughout this program has instilled in me a profound sense of achievement. Not only have I acquired the expertise and proficiency necessary to excel as a physical therapist, but I’ve also cultivated invaluable life skills in critical thinking and problem-solving. For anyone reading this, I would suggest completing more in-depth research on the financial cost of attending UNC prior to starting this program, as this information was very challenging to find and was presented poorly. I appreciate all the staff who understood that we have lives separate of school.
