Professional Goal Statement

My immediate goal is to graduate with an entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and the clinical competence to practice as a resident and clinician in a sports medicine setting to deliver high quality evidence based medicine. I intend to become an avid consumer of evidence based practice (EBP), bringing it into harmony with individual patient presentation and clinical reasoning for optimal health care delivery. Eventually, I hope to contribute to the growing field of PT research to affect EBP by addressing clinically relevant research questions in my interests of lower extremity sports medicine rehabilitation and injury prevention. I will promote health and wellness in all aspects of my discipline, endorsing healthy and active lifestyles as well as my genuine belief in exercise as medicine. I will strive to always keep improving with the knowledge that ultimately this career path is not for me but for the benefit of my future patients.

Reflective Statement

When I think about all of the opportunities that UNC has afforded me over the last 7 years, I am genuinely humbled. From providing my first exposures to physical therapy … to seeing me all the way through the DPT program – I can never adequately express the extent of my gratitude to all of the people that have taught, guided, and encouraged me along the way. The variety of learning opportunities that I have had have shaped me as a student and will ultimately leave a lasting impression as I grow to become a skilled clinician. I look forward to a fulfilling career as a clinician and potentially a researcher in a profession that has become a passion.
